I didn't think I would begin it this soon: I was wrong.
The sequel to Chimera currently has a title of Haloed. This may change.
Currently, I am writing the prologue, which begins with Blue Malefici's descent into a dark and strange place to make a decision that no Fury before him has ever made.
Kheo's awakening has been felt by the remainder of the Five: Ryar ap Sangager, dragon princess, was the woman he once loved, for whom he began a war. Loving him, fearing him, she is no longer sure what he feels for her - it was she who betrayed him above all others.
Bhari's sly heart has been tempered by Chatoya Irkil's endless fight against the violence and darkness that threatens to overwhlem her, yet she was closest to Kheo of all the Five, his greatest ally and closest confidante: now her loyalties are torn once more and with one of her strongest ties to the Five severed, the outcome is uncertain.
Hael was the ruler of the skies, whipping the clouds into shapes for mere pleasure. Heartbroken by the destruction of his family, now knowing the true depravity of Kheo's schemes and deprived of much of his former power, it is he who must stand strong against Kheo, although he is certain of his defeat.
Fireblade lies locked in endless limbo, trapped between life and death like a mosquito frozen in amber. But should he wake, the greatest warrior of the Burning Times will find rage in his heart: agaisnt his faithless wife, his former allies who allowed his imprisonment.
And Kheo...waking to a fresh world with his ruthlesness already proven in the careless death of his soulmate - what is he searching for?
Jepar Jubatus is bound up in a prophecy; he alone might save them from a new, more terrible war, but he must make a terrible sacrifice, casting one of his closest friends into the abyss to save the rest.
The players and the pawns, with no way to differentiate the two.
